Who would win in a fight? : Bigfoot or the Loch Ness Monster?

By Matt Costa

Maybe its a guy thing, but haven’t we all had the, “Who would win in a Fight?“ discussion in one form or another. Whether its in the office or the bar room the question arises at some point, “Who would win in a fight?:  Stallone or Schwarzenegger, Deathlok or Deadpool, Bruce Lee or Chuck Norris, Cloris Leachman or Betty White.”

In the paranormal, nothing has epic battle potential like cryptozoology. Think about it: Mothman vs. El Chupacabra, the Jersey Devil vs. the Dover Demon, its something that we crypto-enthusiasts secretly dream about while lying in bed, filling our blankets with farts (...maybe that last part is just me). Though if it were ever possible to get these creatures to battle we would never take the opportunity; morally it’s not right, and who wants to be known as the Michael Vick of the paranormal.   On one hand Nessie has the reach, but Bigfoot has the heart, is it enough to go the distance? A fight to the finish would definitely be of epic proportions. These thoughts got me thinking a little deeper than the physicality of it, who would win Nessie or Bigfoot? Not just against each other but versus us and the environment.

With the world population growing year after year how long will it take before sightings of Bigfoot be a common occurrence?  Which species is going to be found first (assuming both are real that is!)?  For years, hundreds of sightings of the “illusive” Bigfoot have been reported across the U.S. from Bangor to Baja.  While Nessie on the other hand only has a few sightings a year and is relegated to one location. In terms of survival would such a remote habitat like Loch Ness hinder that species? Does that hurt or help chances of survival?

Given that Nessie is a descendant of the plesiosaur, it would have had to survive since the Jurassic period 200 million years ago, while Bigfoot, if it’s a descendant of apes could be only about 30 million years old.  In our world of industry and economic growth looking at the two most iconic crypto-creatures and their endurance, Nessie, as a species, based on the shear number of years having to survive far out numbers the reign of the Bigfoot Empire.

On a side note if it did come down to just Bigfoot and Nessie, I hear Bigfoot has a mean scissor kick.
